All the fun happens in Norway when it comes to drifting, speed and motorsport in general. Not far from the city Sarpsborg, in the middle of forrest with some of the nicest scenery we have ever seen, you find the “Rudskogen Motorsenter“. Over 3200 meters of almost new racetrack with nice bends, 40 meters of hight difference and a straight where the fastest cars can reach 270 km/t. It is one of the most exciting  and most beautiful racetracks in Northern Europe. If not in all of Europe. Gatebil event is as said and hear before a lot of fun. 3 days with drifting, show cars, race cars, huge party in the forrest and most important Powerslide World Championship. One corner one drift. More about that later on in the article.

We were lucky to borrow our friend Anders’ Skoda Octavia estate diesel. Big win, no need to camp in one of the campsites and with fuel economy every one can handle. So after another family event Friday, this time the funeral of my farther, we headed for Norway.
Tejs had been Mr. Organiser and taken care of everything from sleeping-bags to food and a mobile fridge. Damn great.
We met of with Martin “Pyramiden” Poorhamidi and his drift team. They had their camp in the paddoc so we sad down and had a few beer and next we got a guided tour in the pits. Everyone was there. Speedhunters with World famous Mad Mike and Norwegian hero Fredric Assbø, Vaugh Gittin Jr – Monster Energy Drift team and the rest of the best drifters in Europe. Really awesome. Party all over.

The Gatebil event at Rudskogen is mainly a speed and driving event. If you have a car and a license you may drive it on the track.
Cars are divided in classes after horsepower, road legal etc. Classes are:

– Streetcars (both with or without plates)
– Exclusive (fine sport cars and hyper cars)
– Drifting and drifting PRO (selected drivers)
– Gatebil Extreme Racing and Time Attack

When the track is open there is something for every one. It makes this event very popular for spectators which are gathered on the hills all around the track.

Sadly this beast didn’t run at Rudskogen due to a broken engine. Maybe because of the hard noise regulations.

Powerslide World Championship (Qualifying, Saturday)

When the sun was about to set and this means giving us the golden hour which is near perfect for photography chosen cars line-up for the Powerslide World Championship. 75 cars from 14 nations gathered to do their best in just one corner. With spectators all over the hills and almost all photographers in one place the scene was on for some awesome action.  The exceptions for all the superstars were high. But it was our guy, Martin “Pyramiden” Poorhamidi which got all the attention when he in front of all the international stars took 2nd place. How fu… cool is that.

The overall winner was Fredric Assbø. Sadly the finals was driving Sunday afternoon were we had to go back to Copenhagen, so no pictures from that victory.
